Mark Salo

Director of Field Services

Mark always knew he wanted to work outdoors. With his strong mathematical abilities, surveying was a logical choice. While pursuing his education in surveying, he took an AutoCAD class where he discovered his passion was in the preparation of survey drawings.

After attending Hennepin Technical College, Mark began working as a Land Surveying Technician. His time was split between the office and field surveying duties. Eventually, he came to work in the office full-time, putting together ALTA/ACSM Land Title Drawings, along with subdivision plats and topographic surveys.

In 1997, Mark worked on his first utility scale wind farm project in southwest Minnesota. For the next twelve years he worked predominately on utility scale wind farm projects and transmission line projects in Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado, Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma.

After becoming a Professional Land Surveyor in Minnesota in 2004, Mark assumed project management responsibilities. He went on to receive his license in Oklahoma. Eventually his focus became commercial land development projects in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro Area

Today Mark leads the Field Services Division at Sambatek.

He also makes time to be a regular spectator at his daughter’s basketball and softball games. His family also looks forward to their annual summer vacation, renting a cabin on the lake. They also venture up to Canada with his in-laws to fish, water ski, and enjoy nature.

I enjoy the variety. In one day, I can meet with a client about scoping a new project opportunity, work with one of our surveying technicians on an existing project and write a proposal for another project. "
