Excelsior Marketplace

Excelsior Marketplace completes the redevelopment of a vacant site with the adjoining property, linking the downtown core west to Excelsior Bay.

The project is a sustainable redevelopment which re-purposes approximately 52,114 square feet of empty retail and auto dealership space into a contemporary mixed-use retail center with a Kowalski’s store and office space.

Sambatek provided civil engineering and stormwater management for the site. The on-site soils were very poor and innovative stormwater management systems were installed to meet the requirements set forth by the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. Pervious pavers were installed under the shared parking lot to help filter and contain stormwater, and eliminate the need for additional catch basins. A storm filter system was installed to help remove additional sediment and phosphorus that is harmful to the environment.
