Sambatek worked with the Park Nicollet Foundation and Ellerbe Beckett Architects to provide site engineering for the Melrose Institute, a 67,000-square-foot medical center dedicated solely to the treatment of eating disorders.

The site was previously used as the city’s dump site for incinerator ash, resulting in highly contaminated soils that lacked structural support. Working closely with other project team members, our engineers designed an innovative pile system that supported utilities in poor soils and made the project financially viable. In addition, we secured a FEMA Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) to offset the building’s impact on the floodplain.

The project won several awards, including the Best in Real Estate Award – Healthcare from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
