Vicksburg Marketplace

Sambatek provided innovative site design for this 6.5 acre retail center at the SE corner of Vicksburg Lane and Highway 55 in Plymouth.

Vicksburg Marketplace is a new retail center which brings a Goodwill, a Starbucks with a drive-thru, and a Fresh Thyme Farmers Market to Plymouth. Sambatek completed the site design for the project, including civil engineering and landscape architecture.

We worked closely with the City of Plymouth and Minnehaha Creek Watershed District regarding challenges on the site. The on-site soils were mostly clay, which made it difficult to reach the requirements set forth by the watershed district. Two large underground Cultec filtration systems were designed along with an above ground filtration basin to help control runoff rates and meet volume reduction requirements. Amended soils and tree abstraction credits were also allowed by the watershed for volume reduction. Two Ecostorms pretreatment devices and one SAFL baffle structure were included for additional water quality treatment. A landscaped plaza area was designed near the intersection of Highway 55 and Vicksburg Lane, drawing people to the site as they pass by.
