City of the Village of Minnetonka Beach Zoning Code Creation

Sambatek led the City’s effort to completely reorganize it’s code, eliminate inconsistencies, and modernize regulations to meet the needs of its residents.

Minnetonka Beach’s outdated zoning code was contributing to numerous legal challenges against the City, higher than average legal bills, and an escalating number of land use disputes and general disagreements. Recognizing this as a problem, the City initiated a zoning code update project in 2016 to address a number of concerns in the current ordinance, and to make the City’s regulations easy-to-read and user-friendly.

Over the course of eighteen months, Sambatek led the City’s effort to completely reorganize it’s code, eliminate inconsistencies, and modernize regulations to meet the needs of its residents. The update included a unique approach to lakeshore setbacks specifically designed to meet the goals of the community.
