Lexington Landing Senior Living

Lexington Landing is a five-story senior community offering 97 senior apartments, 36 assisted living apartments and 21 memory care apartments, with underground heated parking available. Housing choices include a variety of studio, one- and two- bedroom apartments.

This $43.5 million project offers 97 independent living apartments, 36 assisted-living dwellings, and 21 memory-care units in a five-story building. Anchored by a 20,000-square-foot “town center,” the project will include a bistro, exercise room, theater, library, community room and other common areas. Housing choices include a variety of studio, one- and two- bedroom apartments. A mix of heated underground and surface parking will serve the development, which will be managed by Presbyterian Homes and Services.

Kevin Gallatin, board chair of the Highland District Council, said last June that residents have expressed a desire for more housing that will enable them to “age in place” in a neighborhood where they have deep roots.

The J.A. Wedum Foundation had been looking to bring their senior housing and services to the Highland Park neighborhood for many years. Alerted to the property sale of a closed St. Paul public school by Anderson Companies, Wedum’s development associate EDI worked closely with the City of St. Paul to reach a purchase price and demolish the building in preparation for senior housing. Lexington Landing Phase II is under development immediately to the north of this site, with Sambatek again working with EDI and Wedum Foundation.

Sambatek provided civil engineering, survey, stormwater management design, site design, and landscape architecture for this unique project. Challenges included Ramsey County’s desired realignment of Lexington Parkway, which bisected the overall site. Sambatek worked with the client and the County to accommodate the roadway in the revised site design.
