Happy National Intern Day!

At Sambatek, we believe that investing in the next generation of engineers is investing in the future of our communities. This National Intern Day, we’re excited to spotlight a few of our incredible interns who have brought fresh ideas, dedication, and passion to our projects this summer.

Meet Thomas Sauer: Building better communities, one project at a time.
Thomas was inspired to pursue civil engineering by his drive to make a positive impact on the world, the satisfaction he feels from creating meaningful work, and his grandfather’s long and successful career as a structural engineer.
Favorite Project: T.H. 5 – where he gained valuable experience in ADA design and learned the process behind large transportation projects.
Why he loves Sambatek: “The people I get to work with. Everyone is very kind, willing to help, and inspiring.”

Meet Mason Wilson: Turning math and science into real-world solutions.
Mason chose civil engineering to challenge himself and make use of his talents in math and science.
Favorite Project: Site visits to the Woodbury apartment complex – watching PMs collaborate with geotechnical engineers and seeing the planning/testing of site filtration firsthand.
Why he loves Sambatek: “The people. I really enjoy the people I work with and who I am learning from.”

Meet Emma Carr: Problem-solving with creativity and precision.
Emma discovered her passion for engineering after a high school project where she built a popsicle stick bridge and loved the creative problem-solving involved.
Favorite Project: A commercial site project in Virginia where she gained CAD skills and problem-solved building footprint changes while salvaging previous work.
Why she loves Sambatek: “Everyone is friendly, helpful, and makes the work environment fun while still being productive.”

Meet Hailey Witman: Designing solutions that make a difference.
Hailey was drawn to civil engineering because she wanted to use her creativity and technical skills to design solutions that benefit communities.
Favorite Project: Redesigning a building footprint – an experience that taught her how to problem-solve when plans change and deepened her understanding of real-world design processes.
Why she loves Sambatek: “The environment. Those around me have helped me gain knowledge and experience that I know will help me be successful for years to come.”

We’re so proud of these interns and grateful for the energy and perspective they bring to our team. Happy National Intern Day from all of us at Sambatek!
