Project Highlights:

The Withers Harbor Bridge is an approximately 500-foot-long bridge on TH 61, extending across Hay Creek, adjacent wetlands, a city trail, sidewalk, and Withers Harbor Drive. Completed in 2024, the project went beyond replacing a bridge; it created new community amenities and safe connections.

Sambatek provided civil engineering, environmental, landscape architecture, planning, public engagement, transportation, utilities, and wetlands services for the project, in collaboration with MnDOT District 6, MnDOT Bridge Design, and Henning Professional Services.

Key features include:

  • A multi-use plaza where trail users can rest in the shade of the bridge and enjoy the view of Hay Creek.
  • Bituminous and aggregate trails for walkers and bikers, connecting the community to the creek.
  • A redesigned DNR snowmobile trail integrated into the bridge design.
  • Upgraded sidewalks, signal systems, and drainage for safety and accessibility.

Sambatek also led public engagement, coordinated with city and county partners, and developed a construction staging plan that balanced contractor needs with community impacts.
