People Behind the Projects: Dan Rebok, PLA

For Dan Rebok, it’s never just about how a space looks; it’s about how it feels when people use it. That mindset has shaped the last 10 years of his career, during which he has worked on everything from athletic fields to mixed-use developments and K–12 sites. No two projects are the same, and that’s exactly what he enjoys. There’s always a new challenge, a new layout, and a new opportunity to make something work better.

What really drives Dan is creating spaces that foster a people-place connection. This means not just something that looks good in a rendering, but something that works for the day-to-day user. Whether that’s how a site flows, how it’s maintained, or how it fits into the surrounding community, he’s always thinking about the bigger picture.

One project that stands out in his career was a redesign effort in Baltimore, where he helped rethink how the city managed a 100-foot-wide landscape buffer underneath major power transmission lines. It’s not the kind of project most people notice, but Dan saw a prime opportunity to turn an ecologically and financially barren space into a walkable pollinator corridor, which required less costly mowing and upkeep. Turning something overlooked into something functional, easier to maintain, and better for the community is the kind of work he takes pride in.

Now at Sambatek, Dan is focused on building landscape architecture services and bringing that same practical, thoughtful approach to projects across the board. Working alongside engineers, planners, and survey teams, he helps ensure the result isn’t just functional; it’s a space people enjoy being in.

Outside of work, Dan stays just as active. You’ll find him golfing, biking, skiing, or spending time outside with his dog, Remus. He’s been to 49 out of 50 states and is still working on checking off that last one.
