Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day 2025: Together We Engineer

International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), brought to you by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES), is celebrating its 12th year in 2025! This global movement shines a light on the incredible work women engineers are doing around the world, work that too often goes unseen.

International Women In Engineering Day Together We Engineer #INWED25 I was always strong in math and science, and after starting college in International Studies, I realized engineering was a better fit, civil engineering, in particular, felt the most interesting and hands-on. My advice to young women entering the field? Find a mentor who can guide you in learning how to advocate for yourself while remaining respectful, especially when working in the field. Jill Weyenberg, EIT, Staff Engineer

At Sambatek, we are proud to support and uplift the women engineers on our team who are making a difference every day. Take a moment to meet some of them below and learn about the exciting projects they’re leading. Together We Engineer a Better World! This International Women in Engineering Day, we’re spotlighting some fantastic women on our team. Read about how they discovered their passion for engineering, and the advice they’d give to young women following in their footsteps.

International Women In Engineering Day Together We Engineer #INWED25 I’ve always been drawn to math and science, so choosing engineering felt natural, especially since I love solving problems that help protect the environment. That passion led me to stormwater design, which I’ve really enjoyed. My advice to young women in engineering? Don’t be afraid to take up space and keep being yourself. I made all my presentations and drawings pink in college (and still do sometimes!) to show girl power, and because I love the color! Kylie Chard, EIT, Project Engineer

This year’s theme, #TogetherWeEngineer, highlights the power of collaboration and inclusion in shaping the future of engineering. INWED provides a much-needed platform to inspire more young women and girls to explore engineering careers, breaking down barriers and building a more diverse and innovative industry. While progress is being made, women remain underrepresented in engineering. According to the CDC, that number is only about 15% in the United States. It’s clear we still have work to do.

I had amazing science and math teachers who made those subjects come alive for me and I decided to play to my strengths. For young women entering the field, know that engineering is broader than what you learn in school. No matter your interests or lifestyle, there’s a place for you in engineering.
