Interns in Action: Learning by Doing

At Sambatek, we believe some of the best learning happens by doing.

Throughout the summer, our interns have had opportunities to step beyond the classroom and experience what a career in the AEC industry looks like firsthand. From visiting active job sites and touring facilities to working alongside our teams in the office, they have been able to see how projects move from an idea to a real-world solution.

More Than a Summer Job

Internships are about more than completing assignments. They are an opportunity to ask questions, try new things, build confidence, and better understand how different disciplines work together.

This summer, our interns have worked alongside Sambatek professionals on real projects and gained exposure to the day-to-day work that goes into serving our clients and communities. Whether they were observing work in the field, learning new software and technical skills, participating in project discussions, or spending time with experienced team members, every experience gave them another opportunity to learn.

And sometimes, the most valuable lessons came simply from being there — seeing how a project team solves a problem, hearing conversations with clients, asking a question in the field, or understanding why a design decision was made.

Learning From the Field and the Office

One of the biggest benefits of an internship is getting to connect what is learned in school with what happens on an actual project.

Site visits and field experiences allowed our interns to see projects from a completely different perspective. Back in the office, they were able to connect those observations to the planning, design, coordination, and problem-solving that happens behind the scenes.

That combination helps build a much broader understanding of the industry — and shows just how much collaboration is required to bring a project together.

Building the Next Generation of AEC Professionals

Our teams also benefit from having interns alongside us. Their questions bring new perspectives, their enthusiasm is contagious, and mentoring gives our employees an opportunity to share the knowledge they have gained throughout their own careers.

We want our interns to leave Sambatek with more than something to add to their resumes. We hope they leave with new skills, stronger professional relationships, greater confidence, and a clearer picture of where they may want their careers to take them.

We’re proud to be part of their start in the industry, and we’re excited to see where they go next.

To our interns: thank you for spending your summer learning, contributing, asking questions, and jumping into new experiences with us. We’re glad you were part of the Sambatek team!
