Goodwill Retail Store and Donation Center

Sambatek provided site design services for the construction of a 20,600-square-foot retail building with a donation drop-off area and truck dock situated on a 2.42-acre site. The project’s primary challenge was constructing a stormwater treatment system to effectively treat runoff before it reached an adjacent wetland. Our approach included using filtration basins lined with clean sand and drain tile to treat the runoff and maintain rate control.

The project was the first Goodwill store in the country to receive LEED certification. In 2012, it received a STARR Award from the Minnesota Shopping Center Association, which recognizes excellence in the retail and shopping center industry.
